Environmental Evaluation of ENAP Magallanes Pits

  • Objective

The study aims to prepare a diagnosis of the soil conditions in 20 pits and of the hydrocarbon wastes inside them, following ASTM standards, to establish the extent and concentration of the contamination, with laboratory trials and on-site measurements.

  • Description

The study carried out for ENAP, included the environmental and risk evaluation of 20 pits located in the eastern sector of the Strait of Magellan, which required the deployment of resources, including the movement of heavy machinery, light drilling equipment, professionals for on-site analysis and sampling work for laboratory analyses.

  • Expected Results

The project’s main results were the quantitative evaluation Phase II of the pits that were evaluated and the development of a risk classification method in three categories: High, Medium and Low.
